Happy Birthday, ya cutie!
"There is no power relation without the correlative constitution of a field of knowledge, nor any knowledge that does not presuppose and constitute at the same time power relations" Michel Foucault, D&P

Now, lest we fall into the bro-den of Foucault worship - he's got a lotta great words, but couldnt have that love without the folks out there putting those words under scrutiny and pushing toward more fruitful analyses.

On another note:

Lately, I have been thinking more about how the 'queer youth' are invoked within LGBT political projects. So much talk of bullying, suicide, and the common sensical applause of 'coming out stories' as the primordial soup of modern American LGBTQIABCDEFGHIJKLetc political and social identity.

What is the labor of the 'LGBT youth' within homonationalism? And who is imagined as part of this youthful, self-aware generation? And with regard to recent headlines and responses to a number of tragedies, who speaks to/for/with/about the 'youth' and under what assumptions? Whose youthfulness is valued and for what reasons? Who never gets to be young? Who doesnt answer calls to 'come out' with the appropriate homonormy repsonses?
Questions of legibility, authenticity, queer pubescence, etc.

A political agenda of tolerance, allies, and 'coming out' will produce sensitivity trainings, gay tourism, and Miller Light sponsored pride parades. But I want rage, dance parties, and abolition.
